Some helmets are just helmets. This one carries a story.
The Daijiro graphic is Shoei's ongoing tribute to Daijiro Kato, the 250cc World Champion who joined the MotoGP grid in 2002 riding for Honda. The helmet he was due to wear that season was originally developed as a commercial replica. When he passed away following a crash at Suzuka in 2003, Shoei obtained his family's blessing and released it as a memorial edition instead. The Daijiro graphic has appeared across Shoei's flagship X-series ever since, a permanent mark of respect for one of the sport's most naturally gifted riders.
On the X-SPR Pro, that tribute sits on Shoei's most advanced race shell to date. The TC-1 colourway, red, white and black, is the sharpest version of the graphic and one of the most distinctive race lids on the market. This isn't a lifestyle helmet with a race-inspired look. It's a fully FIM-homologated race helmet that happens to carry one of motorcycling's most meaningful graphics.
The AIM+ shell is built from six layers of glass fibre, organic fibre and high-performance composite, a construction that delivers serious impact protection at a weight of just 1,450g. The multi-density EPS liner works across different impact zones to manage energy from multiple collision types, not just straight-on hits.
Aerodynamics were developed entirely in Shoei's own wind tunnel with over 150 shape changes compared to the X-Spirit 3. The rear stabiliser with adjustable flaps, vortex generators, integrated spoiler and lower air spoiler combine to hold the helmet planted and stable at speeds exceeding 350km/h, a genuine 3% reduction in drag and lift over its predecessor.
The CWR-F2R visor is wide, tall, and built with tear-off posts for track use. It locks via a double-lock system, mechanically blocked from opening at speed, and comes Pinlock-ready out of the box. Inside, the padding is fully modular with four cheek pad thicknesses available, and the interior is prepared for a hydration system for endurance use.
This is Shoei's race helmet at its best, in a colourway that means something.
