Frequently asked questions
Is the matte finish easy to maintain?
Is the Shoei J.O Matt Light Silver road legal in the UK?
What bikes does this colourway suit?
Can I wear goggles with this helmet?
Plain. Matt. Silver. No graphic, no noise, just the J.O shell in one of the most versatile finishes Shoei offer.
The Matt Light Silver sits at the top of the J.O solid colour range. Where the graphic versions bring pattern and personality, this colourway does the opposite, a clean, brushed-looking matte that works with virtually any bike. Silver Triumphs, grey Ducatis, stripped-back café racers, raw-metal scramblers, all-black customs, the Matt Light Silver doesn't compete with your bike, it complements it. The matte finish also hides minor handling marks better than a gloss and ages with more character over time.
Underneath the finish is the same J.O that's become the benchmark retro open face helmet on the market. Shoei's AIM+ shell combines organic and multi-composite fibres across three outer shell sizes, matched to four EPS liner densities, a level of construction that most competitors at this price point simply don't offer. Three shell sizes means your helmet is always proportionate to your head. Four liner sizes means the fit is dialled in rather than padded out.
The integrated CJ-3 drop-down visor sits flush in the shell when raised and is barely visible, no housing, no bulk. Three positions give you full open, ventilation crack or fully closed depending on conditions. The interior is plush with fleece lining and Nubuck leather and suede trim, and cheek pads come in four thicknesses (31mm, 35mm, 39mm, 43mm) so you can fine-tune fit precisely to your head shape. Everything is removable and washable.
From approximately 950g in the smaller sizes, the J.O is one of the lightest helmets in the Shoei range, a significant advantage on a naked bike or classic where you spend more time upright and the helmet is working against the wind without a screen to hide behind.
