Frequently asked questions
What type of helmet is the Shoei J-Cruise 2?
Is the Shoei J-Cruise 2 road legal in the UK?
Does the J-Cruise 2 have a sun visor?
Is the J-Cruise 2 compatible with Bluetooth intercoms?
Most open face helmets make a compromise. The J-Cruise 2 refuses to.
Shoei took the technology they developed for the GT-Air 2 full face helmet and transplanted it into an open face shell, the same AIM multi-composite construction, the same integrated sun visor system, the same Sena SRL Bluetooth preparation, the same aerodynamic wind tunnel development. The result is a helmet that genuinely blurs the line between open face and full face, and one that has converted riders who swore they'd never wear a jet lid.
The white colourway is clean and timeless, a classic that suits everything from naked bikes and retros to adventure tourers and big cruisers.
The shell is completely new over the original J-Cruise. Shoei's AIM construction layers organic and glass fibres to create a shell that's strong, flexible and significantly lighter than traditional fibreglass. The redesigned rear profile reduces wind yaw, that sideways tug you feel at speed, by 43% compared to its predecessor. Combined with the integrated rear spoiler and ducktail diffuser, the J-Cruise 2 is genuinely composed at motorway pace in a way that most open face helmets simply aren't.
The CJ-2 visor is large and optically correct, sealing tightly against the helmet via an airtight window bead that replaced the old double-lip design. A ventilation notch position lets you run a crack of airflow without fully opening, ideal for cold mornings when you need to clear mist without losing warmth. The internal QSV-2 sun visor is 5mm longer than the original, drops instantly with a gloved thumb, and is built to sunglasses-grade optical standards.
Ventilation runs through three independently adjustable brow inlets with glove-friendly three-position sliders, open, half, closed. Shoei claim a 30% improvement in air intake over the original J-Cruise, with 20% more exhaust from the redesigned rear outlet. For an open face helmet it's a proper system, not an afterthought.
The interior is Shoei's 3D Max-Dry liner, laser-cut foam shaped to the contours of your head with moisture-wicking fabric that pulls sweat away efficiently. There's even a glasses groove built into the cheek pads, making this a genuinely practical everyday helmet for spectacle wearers. Everything comes out for washing, and alternative cheek pad thicknesses are available separately for fine-tuning the fit over time.
Sena SRL and SRL2 integration is factory-prepared, the controller slot, battery housing and speaker cavities are all built into the shell, keeping the profile clean and the aerodynamics intact when fitted.
