Description

The Shoei EX-Zero was never meant to blend in. Inspired by the EX series that Shoei built its reputation on back in the 1980s, the Equation TC-2 graphic takes that retro off-road silhouette, the ducktail shell, the mesh chin port, the raw open face of a scrambler helmet, and wraps it in white, orange and red with the kind of finish that only comes from a helmet made entirely by hand in Japan. This is the lid you wear when you actually care what you're riding.

Underneath the looks, it's all Shoei: an AIM (Advanced Integrated Matrix) fiberglass shell that's lighter and more flexible than standard composite construction, a multi-density EPS liner calibrated to absorb energy across different impact speeds, and a CJ-3 integrated visor with three adjustable positions so it actually seals to your face rather than just sitting in front of it. Three separate shell sizes mean the XS and the XXL aren't just the same mould stretched, Shoei builds a genuinely proportional helmet at every size, which is why it sits so right on your head.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Shoei EX-Zero Equation TC-2 ECE 22.05 approved?

Yes. The EX-Zero is approved to ECE 22.05, which is the current standard required for road use in the UK and across Europe. It is legal for road use on all UK public roads.

Can I use goggles with this helmet instead of the visor?

Yes, this is one of the EX-Zero's defining features. The eye port is wide enough to accommodate most full-size MX and scrambler goggles, including 100% Barstow goggles. You can fold the CJ-3 visor down into the helmet when running goggles, which is exactly how Shoei designed it to be used.

Does the Shoei EX-Zero come with a peak?

No. The helmet is supplied without a peak. The optional V-480 visor peak attaches via press studs on the brow of the helmet and gives the full off-road look, it's available separately from Shoei's accessories range and is worth picking up if that's the style you're going for.

What head shape does the Shoei EX-Zero suit?

The EX-Zero is built on an intermediate oval head form, which is the most common shape and suits the majority of UK riders. If you have a notably round or long oval head, it's worth trying before buying, Shoei's cheek pads and crown pads are available in different thicknesses to fine-tune the fit once you have the right shell size.
