Description

There are standard colours, and then there's the Rusty.

The Duke Evo Rusty is Caberg's exclusive handmade finish, a deliberate, crafted effect that mimics oxidised and weathered metal. Each helmet carries its own individual character, a result of the hand-applied finishing process. It's not paint in the conventional sense; it's a finish with depth and texture that looks genuinely different from anything else on a helmet rack. If you want a flip-up helmet that turns heads at the services as reliably as the bike beneath it, the Rusty is it.

Under that finish is the Duke Evo, the evolution of one of Caberg's most successful helmets, the original Duke, which launched in 2012 and earned a SHARP 5-star safety rating that still stands. The Evo brings the Duke up to ECE 22.06 standard, the most current European safety certification, and adds P/J dual homologation, meaning the helmet is legally approved to be ridden with the chin guard both closed (P) and open (J). The P/J lever on the left side locks the chin guard in the fully open position so it can't drop back down while you're riding. This is what separates a proper flip-up from one that's just marketed that way.

The Duke Evo is built from LG CHEM HI-IMPACT ABS, a high-grade thermoplastic that keeps weight manageable at around 1,600g for a helmet with full flip-up functionality. Ventilation runs through two independently adjustable vents, one on the chin guard to prevent visor misting and one at the top of the shell for airflow, both operable with gloves on.

The visor system is Caberg's DVT (Double Visor Tech). A clear anti-scratch outer visor works with the Max Vision Pinlock lens, included in the box, to keep the view clear in cold and wet conditions. An integrated anti-scratch sun visor drops with a gloved thumb for bright-weather riding. The Pinlock's FSB (Full Silicone Bead) creates a larger air chamber between the lenses for superior anti-fog performance, and its tension can be adjusted from outside the visor without removing it.

The fully removable and washable lining uses 3D-shaped cheek pads developed specifically to seal well when riding with the chin guard open, an important detail that sets the Duke Evo apart from modular helmets that lose their seal in J configuration. The micrometric buckle fastens securely and adjusts precisely.

The Duke Evo is also factory-prepared for Caberg's Pro Speak Evo Bluetooth system, tested and ECE 22.06 approved with the communication unit installed. Speaker cavities, routing and the controller mounting point are all pre-built into the shell.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Rusty finish on the Caberg Duke Evo?

The Rusty is Caberg's exclusive handmade colour finish, not a standard paint, but a crafted effect applied by hand that mimics the look of oxidised and weathered metal. Each helmet has its own individual character as a result of the process. It's available only on the Duke Evo and is priced above the standard solid colours to reflect the handmade nature of the finish.

Does the Duke Evo come with a sun visor?

Yes. Caberg's DVT (Double Visor Tech) system provides a clear anti-scratch outer visor with Pinlock, and an integrated anti-scratch drop-down sun visor, both operated independently.

Can I fit a Bluetooth intercom?

Yes. The Duke Evo is factory-prepared for Caberg's Pro Speak Evo system. Crucially, the helmet has been tested and ECE 22.06 certified with the Pro Speak Evo installed, meaning homologation is maintained when the unit is fitted. Third-party intercoms can also be fitted but may affect homologation.

What is the Duke Evo's heritage?

The Duke Evo is the updated successor to the original Caberg Duke, which launched in 2012 and earned a SHARP 5-star safety rating. Caberg pioneered P/J dual homologation in flip-up helmets, a standard now adopted across the industry, and the Duke was one of the first helmets to carry it. The Evo brings ECE 22.06 certification and a range of comfort and ventilation upgrades.
